Uganda Consulate General Joins FHW CHINA for the First Time

Uganda Consulate General will add a new category to the exhibits list of FHW CHINA 2014---Uganda coffee products.

Uganda, with total area of 24.15 square kilometers, is an inland country in East Africa which lies on the equator. Towering mountains, bountiful rivers, beautiful lakes, favorable climate, ever-green environment, all these earn Uganda the title “The Pearl of Africa”. Kampala is the capital of Uganda.

Although Uganda is an undeveloped economy, its coffee industry stands out among African countries. It accounts for 70% of Africa’s total coffee export. Uganda is the home and main producing area of Robusta Coffee. In 1960s, Uganda’s annual coffee production was 3.5 million bags. The volume decreased to 2.5 million in the middle of 1980s due to political reasons. Now the situation picks up with 3 million bags’ yield annually. The coffee products are mainly exported to EU, among which Sweden and Italy are the key consumers.

Uganda General and Uganda Coffee Development Authority will join FHW CHINA 2014 together, where they will display the uniqueness of Uganda coffee to all the coffee lovers at “Everyone Drinks Coffee” event in the afternoon of November 12.
